eng	What to actually be aware of in intercultural encounters	As cultural differences manifest themselves in intercultural communication, the degree of mutual communication pattern similarity in relation to International English (IE) was surveyed among university students in six European countries and one group of in-service professionals in the Czech Republic. Our goal was to discover the probability with which one may expect certain communication trends in international encounters. The survey results indicated interesting trends in communication among students as well as suggested areas where there are likely to be differences conveyed through IE. However, the survey also demonstrated the need to view communication trends of cultural groups with an utmost attention paid to context attributes, and thus present a challenge to the cross-cultural theories which ignore response background.	intercultural communication; International English
