This project has successfully ended.
Aim of the project is a design of a new complementary material for restoration of concrete and stone bases of buildings of 20th century architecture,
which should be an alternative to currently used materials based on cements. It is a research and development in the field of advanced materials
(KETs), which leads to a development of new cost-saving materials and new products with higher added value.Another aim is widening of a current assortment of the company České lupkové závody a.s. with a new product, for which production alternative raw
materials will be used instead of their current deposition. The aim is also effectiveness of research activities among solvers by means of linking know-how and infrastructure of individual workplaces and
cooperation broadening between commercial and research sphere. Outputs of this collaboration will help to competitiveness increasing of the
entities taking part in this project. Standard procedures for restoration of buldings of 20th century architecture will be innovated to preserve them
for next generations, which is one of priorities of the National RIS3 strategy.
The University of Pardubice is in the foreground in the nano-material world. Leveraging this capability, we are finding artistic ways to use these materials. NANOFORART is a project to develope new methods for the conservation and preservation of movable and immovable art works.
For a long period of time, the Studio of Restoration and Conservation of Paper, Book Binding and Documents has been dealing with insufficient equipment and technical solution of the issues concerning restoration of metal furnishings which can be found on book bindings. Based on the latest experience regarding the practice of restoration of metals as well as on the last thesis written by a student of FR UPa, which was focused on testing cleaning methods of book furnishings, it was concluded that the cleaning method by means of jet is the most suitable. The innovation will take place within the subject Restoration and Conservation Techniques of Paper I-VI. The equipment provided by the project will also serve as facilities for further research activities of students within their work on final year projects and thesis.

In the Czech Republic there is a wide array of sculptural works made of plaster. They are represented by unique casts of sculptures which trace the process of their creation. A considerable amount of those works are in poor condition. They are artworks of exceptional value inherited from great sculptors of the first half of 20th century, who actively contributed to the formation of the Czech national awareness, confidence and identity.

We aim to identify and document the collection of plaster casts in the Czech Republic, starting first with the prominent sculptor, Stanislav Sucharda.

The main outcome will be an organized exhibition of his sculptures, which will present both plaster artworks, as a crucial part of the legacy of great masters of sculpting in the context of all their creative process, and the restoration and care for works of art made of plaster.

Concurrently, there will be educational programmes for students as well as for the general public to familiarize them with the basis and expressions of sculpture of the first half of 20th century in connection with the creation of the national cultural identity and with the issues of restoration and care for plaster artworks.
The primary content of applied research lies in testing traditional materials and in development of new ones as well as new technologies, in optimising the process of restoration and conservation of moveable monuments made of plaster. The aim of the applied research is to determine the limits of individual procedures and technologies used and subsequently, to set an optimum mode of the way the artworks would be stored after restoration. Neither in Czech nor in foreign literature the topic of restoration of plaster artefacts has been sufficiently worked on. Generally, the topic of plaster sculptures is quite a neglected and unexplored area, in spite of the fact it is plaster in which a lot of outstanding precious works of art have been preserved.

The objectives of the project are determined in accordance with the "Cultural Heritage" objective of the NAKI II program.
We are developing tools for the protection, identification and presentation of the cultural heritage of the Benedictine order in the Czech Republic,
represented primarily by the monasteries in Broumov and Rajhrad. Special attention will be given to the libraries of each monastery.

Research will focus on the book collections from the Broumov and Rajhrad monasteries and also the space and equipment of the libraries.
The project will develope:
1. Preservation procedure for the protection and care of library collections of monastic libraries,
2. Methodology for care of space, facilities and equipment of Baroque interior libraries, which both of the above mentioned libraries represent.

The result of this project is a database of typographical elements of the books, and special software for usage of this database.
Both will create a platform for further editing, analytical and comparative work with books.
The cultural heritage of both monasteries will be presented to the general and scientific public by making the collections available
and by other presentation activities: exhibitions, videos, scientific books, studies in peer-reviewed journals and anthologies.
At the same time steps will be taken to rescue the book heritage of the Broumov monastery.
We plan to restore the rarest and most vulnerable books. The content of the book collections will be presented in the form of user-friendly maps.
