A record-breaking 42 international students from a total of  9 countries came to the summer school which started this week at the University of Pardubice. The students will visit several faculties, they will get to know the town surroundings, go to see the Giant Mountains or Karlštejn castle.

„We wish to attract to the University of Pardubice also gifted students from abroad. The summer school helps us strengthen and broaden cooperation with partner schools from different parts of the world. For example students from the prestigeous Stellenbosh University – the oldest university in South Africa - will have come for the first time“, stated Ing. Andrea Koblížková, Ph.D., Vice-rector for Development of the University of Pardubice.

Out of thousands of applicants this year the university has chosen students from Belarus, Vietnam, Taiwan, South African Republic, Ukraine, China, Japan, and also from Egypt and Armenia. In the course of one month they will have an opportunity to get to know the labs, workplaces and facilities of four university faculties – Faculty of Transport Engineering, Chemical Technology, Health Studies, and Economics and Administration. They can also look forward to various sports or cultural activities. Apart from getting to know the town well, they will try for example paddleboarding on the river Elbe, climbing Mount Sněžka, go to the summer cinema or even participate in gingerbread decorating and experience a traditional Czech Christmas.

„There is a high demand for our summer school, we had to choose from thousands of applicants. We want to give them an opportunity to experience a university life in a European country and see the possibilities of study as well as scientific research offered by the University of Pardubice“, says Ing. Ondřej Srb from the University Department for International Affairs and Development, who prepares the summer programme for foreigners not only with Czech students of the university, but also with his foreign colleagues working at the University of Pardubice.
