The objective of this study programme is to train fully qualified specialists – teachers – who are able to reflect and anticipate social needs and in compliance with these develop their own pedagogical activities in a flexible way. The basis of the graduates‘ professional expertise is a high level of communicative competence (C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) in all its aspects. The graduates also possess a thorough knowledge in the field of the English language, literature and cultural studies, they understand its content structure and thus they are able to manage the processes of foreign language acquisition in the school environment. The graduates not only perform their educational and pedagogical duties, but they also directly participate in (producing) creating desirable changes in the sphere of education. The graduates are well-qualified to identify the needs that stem from the changing cultural, social and economic context, to reflect these needs and meet them by designing (particular) suitable educational processes and strategies flexibly.
The necessity of the graduates‘ further study and professional growth is in accordance with these requirements. The graduates are qualified for teaching (jobs) at lower secondary schools, at language schools and further educational institutions, either private or public. The acquired knowledge and skills, as well as their level of professional competence, form a necessary prerequisite for further Doctoral study programmes, e.g. methodology of a particular language, or other related disciplines.
