Vychází ze zkušeností autorů s výukou obchodní a odborné angličtiny na Jazykovém centru Univerzity Pardubice (konkrétně jde o Business English, English for Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, English for Transport a English for Chemistry). V souladu se všeobecně akceptovaným konceptem dvojích cílů v rámci CLIL z hlediska současného učení se cizímu jazyku a odbornému obsahu je článek zaměřen zejména na problematiku vytváření optimálních podmínek učení za účelem komplexního profesního růstu vysokoškolských studentů. Z tohoto přístupu vyplývá řada zásadních otázek týkajících se tvorby kurikula, zejména pokud jde o volbu a předávání obsahu učení, který je jak odborný, tak jazykový. Komplexnost problematiky CLILu navíc klade obrovské nároky na didaktické znalosti obsahu u vyučujících cizích jazyků, neboť v rámci CLIL se od učitelů očekává efektivní propojení výuky jazyka a odborného obsahu za současného respektování individuálních potřeb, zájmů a schopností studentů. Autoři příspěvku kromě jiného uvádějí příklady praktického přístupu k aplikování principů CLIL ve vysokoškolské výuce odborného jazyka. eng Applying principles of CLIL to ESP in higher education The paper analyses the potential of applying the principles of CLIL within the tertiary sector of the Czech educational system. It draws on the experience accumulated by the Language Centre of the University of Pardubice in the area of ESP (English for Specific Purposes), namely English for Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, English for Transport, English for Chemistry and Business English. In accordance with the generally accepted concept of dual-focused aims of CLIL in terms of the simultaneous learning of a foreign language and the content, the article addresses especially the issues of creating optimum learning conditions for the complex professional growth of university students. This dual focus logically generates many vital questions in the area of curriculum development and course/syllabus design, mainly concerning the selection and distribution of the content taught, i.e. both the subject-specific and the linguistic input. Moreover, the complexity of CLIL places huge demands on the development of the pedagogical content knowledge of language teaching professionals as CLIL teachers are expected not only to blend the linguistic content with the subject-specific one but also to “amalgamise” effectively the content and pedagogy in an attempt to address the specific needs, interests and abilities of the students. The authors are ready to discuss their personal beliefs in the area of CLIL as well as give examples of a practical approach to applying CLIL principles in the day-to-day practice of ESP professionals in higher education.
