- Introduction
The project is focused on the development, especially syntheses and reactivity, of nearly unexplored monomeric formally phosphorus(I), arsenic(I) and antimony(I) compounds, where the pnictogen is stabilized within unprecedented heterocycles. These compounds in the case of lighter pnictogens (P and As) exhibit an aromatic character, thereby representing analogues of known organic molecules, but displaying diverse reactivity. Their reactivity with substrates containing various multiple bonds and sources of carbenes will be investigated with the aim to synthesize other heterocyclic compounds that have not been in detail studied yet. The attention will be also given to the redox and coordination chemistry of the central pnictogens, which has to crucially influence the chemical behavior of these heterocycles. The structure of target compounds will be elucidated by multinuclear NMR, UV-vis, IR and Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis. A theoretical survey dealing with the structure of these compounds and mechanism of their formation will be an important part of the project..
