Interkulturalität in Sprache, Literatur und Bildung / Interculturality in Language, Literature and Education / Interkulturalita v jazyce, literatuře a vzdělání

Aim and Content

In today's world, being successful in professional and private life means to know how to properly communicate with representatives of both close and distant cultures. This involves not only understanding the language, but also understanding more or less distinct patterns of behavior and communication, and at the same time, knowledge of cultural and linguistic history. To a considerable extent, current values and attitudes within various groups are determined by cultural and historical conditions. Very often, however, while teaching foreign languages, literature and history, the element of intercultural and transcultural communication is neglected. The regularly published proceedings Interkulturalität in Sprache, Literatur und Bildung / Interculturality in Language, Literature and Education are intended to address these issues, especially in the field of philology (language and literature), didactics of foreign languages, and culture.
The contents of proceedings are peer-reviewed papers in German, English, Czech and Slovak, always supplemented with an English summary. The contributions deal with the theme of communication between various cultural, national or linguistic groups, at present and in the past. The unifying theme is the reflection of "own" in relation to "foreign" as well as mutual coexistence and contacts between various linguistic and cultural communities. In their papers, the authors take contemporary knowledge in the particular scientific field into consideration.
