Preparation, characterization and application of epoxy resins, unsaturated polyesters, acrylic emulsion copolymers, composite materials. Research in paints and coatings focussed mainly on corrosion protection by solvent and water borne vehicles. Investigation of novel non-toxic corrosion protective pigments including their synthesis. Polymerization kinetics studies in homogeneous and heterogeneous systems, copolymerization, particle nucleation and growth in emulsion polymerization, polyurethanes, polyester and epoxy resins curing. Phase transitions in polymers, solubility parameters, structure and properties of composite materials. Investigation of aramides and copolyamides, precursors for high performance fibres and composites. Synthesis and evaluation of novel dyes and pigments, especially for polyester fibres dyeing, coloration and finishing of textiles, sequestring agents for preliminary finishing and coloration of textile fabrics and as builder systems for laundry detergents.
