Two faculties of the University have new Deans - the Faculty of Chemical Technology and the Faculty of Health Studies

From April 3, 2015 the Faculty of Chemical Technology has a new dean – chemist Professor Petr Kalenda.

Also after eight years, starting May 1st, 2015, the Faculty of Health Studies will have its new dean – doctor Professor Josef Fusek.

The new dean of the Faculty of Chemical Technology professor Petr Kalenda was elected January 21, 2015 by the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Chemical Technology, and was officially appointed by the Rector of the University of Pardubice Prof. Miroslav Ludwig for a four year term 2015 – 2019, starting April 3rd, 2015.

Professor Ing. Petr Kalenda, CSc., graduated the Institute of Chemical Technology in Pardubice in 1985 with a degree in the fabrication and development of polymers. He now works at the Institute of Chemistry and Technology of Macromolecular Materials of the Faculty of Chemical Technology, in the Department of Paints and Organic Coatings. He has served as the vice-dean of academics since 2007. In 2007, Petr Kalenda gained the title of Professor in the field of technology of macro-molecular materials. As a scientist professor Kalenda pursues research into molecular and supra-molecular material structures, chemicals for film-forming materials, organic coatings and anti-corrosive pigments for ecological painting which have wide range of applications. He has been collaborating with many external partners esp. via the notable project "Partnership for Chemistry".


The Faculty of Chemical Technology of the University of Pardubice stems from a 65-year tradition of higher education in chemistry and chemical technologies rooted in Pardubice since 1950. Initially called the "Institute of Chemical Technology" (1953) it was later renamed the Faculty of Chemical Technology (1992) and formed the foundation of the University of Pardubice (1994).

Nowadays, the oldest faculty of the University provides to its almost two thousands students wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

New dean of the Faculty of Health Studies

The Academic Senate of the Faculty of Health Studies elected their new dean on March 9, 2015. The rector of the University of Pardubice Professor Miroslav Ludwig has appointed the new dean for a four year term, starting May 1, 2015.

Prof. MUDr. Josef Fusek, DrSc., as a doctor of medicine, gained his professorship in the field of pharmacology. He has been working at the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health studies since 2005. He has been also involved for past two decades in teaching and research at the nowadays Faculty of Military Health Sciences of the University of Defence in Hradec Kralove (since 1990) where he also previously served in many academic functions (as rector, vice-rector, vice-dean). He also participates in activities of the Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University in Hradec Kralove.

Professor Fusek has been focused in his pedagogical and research work on general, special and clinical pharmacology, toxicology, radio-pharmacy, emergency medicine, safety diagnostics, prevention and treatment of intoxication. He is author or co-author of more than 250 publications in national or international scientific journals and author or co-author of more than 20 books.

The Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Pardubice was established in January 2007 by transformation of the former Institute of Health Studies which was established at the University in 2002 in cooperation with the Pardubice Regional Hospital and Secondary school for Nursing in Pardubice. Nowadays, the faculty provides instruction to its 800 students in four undergraduate and three postgraduate study programmes (two Master´s and one Doctoral degree courses).

Instruction, lecturing and research are supported by the five clinical workplaces at the Pardubice Hospital – the internal clinic, surgery clinic, otolaryngology, head and neck clinic, neurology and the obstetric clinic.

Professor Fusek is the second dean of the Faculty of Health Studies in its history:
