PROFILE OF THE GRADUATE
Scientific profile of graduate from "Organic chemistry":
Graduates from this study branch are particularly trained for research work and for production control of special organic compounds. These graduates on the basis of their knowledge in systematic organic chemistry and physical organic chemistry, reaction kinetics and mechanisms, stereochemistry of organic reactions, basics of biochemistry and toxicology, methods of modern organic synthesis and retrosynthetic analysis, application of PC in treatment of experimental data, chemometric methods, spectral methods, relationships between structure of organic compounds and their reactivity and biological activity, and modern information technology in organic chemistry are able to find suggestions in scientific literature for further development of production of special organic compounds, carry out research work in this field, investigate the course of reactions by means of physico-chemical methods, determine the structure of reaction intermediates and products, optimize the reaction course with regard to its parameters and yield, and control the production of special organic compounds on pilot plant scale with respecting environmental aspects.

study specialization ORGANIC CHEMISTRY in study programme CHEMISTRY
Graduates of the study branch Organic Chemistry are particularly trained for research work and for production control of special organic compounds.
study specialization TECHNOLOGY OF ORGANIC SPECIALITIES
in study programme CHEMISTRY AND TECHNOLOGY OF MATERIALS
The branch of Technology of organic specialties has been oriented to medium-scale organic specialties, such as organic dyes (their properties, synthesis, production, applications, intermediates), pharmaceuticals (their properties, synthesis, production, intermediates) and photochemistry. In the context of dyestuffs and photochemistry, it also intensively deals with photo-physics and quantum-chemical calculations at application level. From the pedagogical standpoint, deep theoretical foundations of the areas mentioned are complemented by laboratory training, where it is our aim to teach practical skills, so that a graduate should be really able to synthesise dyestuffs, pharmaceuticals and their intermediates, get well oriented over their commercial production, be able to realise photochemical reactions, analyse reaction mixtures and products. In this way, the laboratory training represents a backbone in the education of undergraduates.
