Cooperation

The aim of establishing of the Center is realization of entirely new quality of research and innovation in the area of chemistry and technology of new materials and their characterization, combination of research and personal capacities of partner institutions for harvesting and application of original findings in the area of materials including development of current results of all participating partners.

For these reasons, CMS will be an institution coupling research, education and application activities in the area of “material science” and achieving “above critical” size, knowledge and infrastructure. The concept of CMS follows successful projects relating to study of solid state chemistry and physics on inorganic materials which have been realized at the University Pardubice, e.g.

  • project “Perspective Inorganic Materials, LC 523” at Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry, since 2000, ( http://vzc.upce.cz/home.php )
  • Joint Laboratory of Solid State Chemistry of the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry AS CR v.v.i. and University of Pardubice, since 1980. http://www.upce.cz/en/fcht/slchpl.html

These projects are realized in co-operation with other partner institutions and become a basis for CMS with residency in Pardubice.

For development of the CMS is extremely important co-operation with partner institutions, namely from the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, i.e.,

  • Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry,
  • Institute of Physics,
  • Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry,

and other University partners such as

  • Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague,
  • Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague
  • and others partners.

Excellent level of all participants and their further development gives rise to a synergetic effect of significant improvement of quality of their research together with enhanced level of education of young generation of researchers oriented to applied research and development.

CMS will provide researchers by outstanding laboratory facilities which are necessary for top class results in current material science, but above financial limits of smaller scientific groups. Moreover, CMS focuses on modelling, synthesis and characterization of properties of new functional materials at the same place. This gives researcher a beneficial opportunity to participate on more extensive and complex scientific projects together with international partners, e.g., networks of excellence, ESFRI etc.

The establishment of CMS should contribute to an increase of GDP of the Czech Republic as it is evident in successful countries like Ireland and Finland strongly oriented on high tech material research.
